March 21, 2016:
Students will turn in all worksheets for Chapter 20 if they have not already done so. The teacher will issue notes and review for a test on Tuesday over Chapter 20.
March 22, 2016:
Test over Chapter 20.
March 23, 2016:
The teacher is out due to UIL District competition. Mrs. Kronenberger will be in class scheduling students for their Junior year of high school. This should last all period, but if not they are to begin reading Chapter 21 Section 1.
March 24, 2016:
Students will answer the following for Chapter 21, Section 1:
Describe Spanish power under Philip II.
Explain the origins of absolute monarchy.
Critical Thinking Questions:
What are benefits and drawbacks for society when a ruler monopolizes important decision making?
What non-religious factors might have provoked Philip II to send the Armada against England?
Why might readers still take an interest in the 400 year old novel Don Quixote?
What measures might Spain have taken to restore its economy?
Why might an absolute monarch view a republic, such as the Netherlands, as a political threat?
